Extension was a good idea and works well. I agree that it should automatically disappear after ten seconds if possible.

Nice one Craig

Thanks. I have made the relevant changes to my local copy, but I am undecided whether it should be ten seconds or fifteen before it disappears. I will either put it live tonight or tomorrow.

Compare it with the Tweetdeck notification or Outlook notification. I reckon they're on screen for about five seconds.

Ten seconds seems to work well. I have had it running all day and it looks good enough to be released. I will do that this evening.

The latest version is now on Google's servers. I think we now need to wait for our browsers to be automatically updated. The notification is now only displayed for ten seconds before automatically disappearing.

Yeah, it's working for me. Auto disappear is working at least!

Version 0.3 is now available on the chrome store.

The main improvement in this version is that you now get a wee SFF button at the top right of the browser. Clicking it will give you the ten latest topics. If you don't want to see that button, you can always hide it by right clicking it.

The notification at the bottom right of the screen remains unchanged.

I have also included some better error handling, but that's not exciting.

If you have already installed the extension, it should automatically update.

Automatic update didn't work for me.

Had to remove and re-install.

what do you mean when you say it didnt work?

It can take a good few hours before Google pushes out updates, and even then, I think it only does it when you close and then reopen the browser.

I closed and opened Chrome and nothing happened.

You're probably right, I was maybe a bit too quick.

It should really update almost instantly. I can't see why it takes them so long to push it out.

I was just curious to see how it looked.

As you know I prefer FF.

I will investigate doing one in FF. I'm sure I did write one ages ago (adapted someone else's code) but it relied on the status bar. That's gone now, so its pointless.

It's not really necessary Craig.

I use the RSS feed (another reason I don't use Chrome) and also View New Content when I logon.

I have just released version 0.4. It includes a very minor bug fix, with no new functionality. If you have it installed, it will auto update without prompting you.
