Craig Levein has got his early payout from the SFA after a deal was struck.

FORMER Scotland manager Craig Levein has settled his legal dispute over his sacking, according to the Scottish Football Association.

Levein was removed from his post on full pay in November but then resigned and launched legal action over compensation.

A statement read: "The Scottish FA and Craig Levein confirm that a mutually acceptable settlement has been reached for an undisclosed sum in relation to Craig's contract with the Scottish FA.

"The Scottish FA wishes Craig well for the future. No further comment will be made on this matter."

I would laugh, but not in a good way, if he did end up with the full whack.

Given this fiasco and the fact that they seem to be on the point of abdicating control of the game and leaving it to the SPL it appears they are a bunch of gutless and nutless wonders.

Levein has shown his class and has again shown that his level is mid table premier league. Why did he ever get the Scotland job in the first place and why did they need to pay him so much? Most managers in Scotland would have done it for a quarter of what levein got paid and certainly could not have done any worse.

Unfortunately Strachan has not improved things at all. Shocking defending against Serbia cost us a good chance of a point which would have been good for the squad morale.  Unfortunately i cannot see us picking up many points in the remaining games and with a game against England to come too it could be a long year for the Tartan Army.

Maybe we need to get back to basics and concentrate on bringing through young players. If we do it right the first team will take care of itself.

It is possible that independence could be good for Scottish Football, it must be good for someone other than Junket Eck. If we are booted out of the EU we can get back to the home players rule that used to exist for European Football years ago.  Too many of our teams are not playing enough Scottish players. No wonder we have slipped down the rankings.

Fail to see the connection of Scottish Football and Scottish Independance!?

I agree we should have more Scottish players at our clubs but some experienced foreigners certainly help homegrown talent.

Maybe the SPL can successfully vote in changes to squad sizes, wage caps and under-21 rules to encourage their teams to invest and rely more on our youngsters?

Then again, maybe not.

As for Levein, I'm sure he didn't get any more than his SFA contract allowed him. Why is he at fault for receiving what he was owed?
