My old boys has his horse Stoneham, which won today at 11/2 @ Newcastle, entered in the  2.10 on the 16th at Cheltenham. He still doesn't know if it will actually run or not.

I think their is an element of them picking the best horses but not sure.

1st big tip for the festival is in:

Head of Racing James Knight has picked Might Bite as his top tip for the Festival.

"He'll be going in the RSA Chase and was in the process of thrashing his rivals in the Kauto Star Novice's Chase at Kempton before falling at the last fence. If Might Bite can brush up on his jumping - and he has enjoyed a confidence boosting win at Doncaster since - then he will prove incredibly tough to beat at the Festival."

the RSA Chase is on the Wednesday!

Just checked and Might Bite is currently generally 3/1 (7/2 with some company called Black Type but never heard of them before)

The Ladbrokes News team have also put together a foursome that they think can deliver a bang for customers' bucks:

 • Buveur D’Air to win the Champion Hurdle, Tuesday 15:30
 • Daphne Du Clos to win the Champion Bumper, Wednesday 17:30
 • Unowhatimeanharry to win the Stayers’ Hurdle, Thursday 15:30
 • Defi Du Seuil to win the Triumph Hurdle, Friday 13:30

A £1 stake (total bet is £15) currently returns £557.

Lifted this off my companies intranet:

The experts' Festival picks

Ladbrokes Coral colleagues were joined by special guests John McCririck, BBC commentator John Hunt, At The Races’ Martin Kelly and Coral Head of PR Dave Stevens to preview net week's Festival. Here’s what they had to say for themselves:

Champion Day, Tuesday 14 March

Supreme Novices Hurdle, 13:30

JM – “(Melon, 4/1) Why has he had only one run? There must be a negative reason.”

JH – “Bunk Off Early (11/2) is a great bet.”

MK – “Melon (4/1) was impressive on his one start and had plenty left in the tank.”

Arkle Chase, 14:10

JH – “Forest Bihan (20/1) is one of the best bets of the week. Rapidly improving, three wins from four starts. Top class horse.”

Champion Hurdle, 15:30

JM – “Brain Power (7/1)”

JH – “It’s an outsider’s race. My Tent Or Yours (20/1).”

MK – “Look at the bigger prices.”

DS – “The New One (14/1) has never been good enough.”

Ladies Day, Wednesday 15 March

Neptune Novices Hurdle, 13:30

DS – “(Neon Wolf, 2/1) Absolute certainty.”

RSA Chase, 14.10

JM – “Might Bite (5/2).”

JH – “Might Bite (5/2) splits opinion. He was dodgy around Kempton and not for me, but the Henderson team are mad keen.”

Coral Cup, 14:50

DS – “Gordon Elliott (6/1) trained Tombstone looks good. Old Guard (25/1) us crying out for good ground.”

Queen Mother Champion Chase, 15:30

JM – “Special Tiara (20/1) always runs a big race at Cheltenham. Back in market without Douvan.”

JH – “If the ground dries up, God’s Own (12/1) is more than capable of running into a place.”

MK – “It’s a one horse race (Douvan, 1/4).”

DS – “God’s Own (12/1) if you want one for the Forecast.”

St Patrick’s Thursday, Thursday 16 March

JLT Novices Chase, 13:30

MK – “Nigel Twiston-Davies horses have been getting beat badly by 10/200/30 lengths, but if they’re running well earlier in the week, look at Flying Angel (25/1).”

Ryanair Chase, 14:50

JM – “Three words. Empire. Of. Dirt! (5/1)”

JH – “This will suit Sub Lieutenant down to the ground.”

MK – “Empire Of Dirt (5/1) is capable of winning the Gold Cup, and if he can win a Gold Cup he can win this.”

Stayers Hurdle, 15:30

JH – “I think Jezki (7/1) will run very well on drying ground.”

MK – “Can’t see a negative with Unowhatimeanharry (6/5). Former winner Cole Harden (8/1) could be the each way play back at level weight.”

DS – “Unowhatimeanharry (6/5) is my nap of the week. Sometimes the obvious is staring you in the face.”

Gold Cup Day, Friday 17 March

Triumph Hurdle, 13:30

JH – “I’m very sweet on Mega Fortune (7/1); has improved a stack.”

Albert Bartlett, 14:50

JH – “If Bacardys (7/1) runs here he’ll run very well.”

MK – “Death Duty (9/4) has been crying out for three miles. One of the bets of the week.”

Gold Cup, 15:30

JM – “ Cue Card (100/30) and Native River (7/2) are the lays of the week.”

JH – “More Of That (20/1) has an unbelievable record at the course; a really good bet.”

MK – “If you think of horses that have been in the Gold Cup and failed (Djakadam, 4/1), they don’t come back and win. Minella Rocco (20/1) could cause an upset”

DS – “Djakadam (4/1) could spoil the party.”

If you want even more expert information, the Coral PR team are broadcasting their annual live-streamed Cheltenham Festival webcast this Sunday between 18:00 and 20:00. Nick Luck (RacingUK), Dan Skelton (racehorse trainer), Mark "The Couch" Winstanley (pundit) and Simon Clare (Coral PR Director) will be digging deep into all 28 races over the four days.

The stream won’t be available through shop PCs and tablets, but for those with access to a personal device the URL to watch the broadcast is www.coral.co.uk/cheltenhamfestival

I've been mega busy last week and today so not really been able to give the tipster competition much thought.

Was wanting to add places this year so I think the best way to do that is just to simply treat each bet as if its a £1 e/w bet. If everybody is happy with that and I will just use the official SP and the Sporting Life results webpage to judge the places and prices.

To all you dudes & me...could we try like youse have been doing and keep posts about bets etc in here and leave the tipster thread just for the picks & results. It would help me by saving me having to go through pages to check on your choices. Cheers....flummoxed Dug.....
