Tony Bellew’s shock victory over David Haye at the O2 Arena on Saturday night was the biggest British fight in betting history. Bookmakers saw multi-million pound turnover on the bout, with betting interest only eclipsed by the 2015 Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout.
Despite Haye being the favourite, there was plenty of money for Bellew, with Ladbrokes alone taking over 5000 bets on the Liverpudlian to win. The biggest payout of £5,000 was from a £1000 punt placed in Liverpool at 4/1. One Bomber fan also collected £3,000 thanks to a £30 bet on a round 11 victory at 100/1.
