Doubt any of us know for sure but anyone not towing the line is picked up Gestapo style and taken away never to be seen again.
Similar to what also happened in Russia years ago.
I read all the people have to display his photo in their house, death penalty if you dont.

Think its more a case of living in fear than genuine love or patriotism.

I don't quite agree with that Camshy, people can be so indoctrinated that they don't see the other side of things.

If the people were as you say living in apparent perpetual fear then a revolution would have taken place long ago.

Agree with the first part but revolution can be difficult when the military are so influential in controlling the situation.

Me and you will never know for sure due to the secrecy but if we look at similar countries it shows us fear, intimidation can knock a lot of fight and spirit out of the people. When some are able to finally rid themselves of a tyrant/dictator the relief and joy seems to be the overall factor.

I know if I were there I would toe the line through fear of putting my own life and my families life in danger.

I was reading recently about the Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang. Its the big pyramid like building in the middle of the Capital. 105 floors but its completely unfinished inside and is just a concrete shell. They started building it in 1987 and still to this day it is not finished.

Nothing better than an old fashioned show of military strength, goosestepping aligned troops, the ladies showing lots of leg.

The music an a that, gets yur hair standing on end, then to top it all, the rumble of the tanks and heavy weaponry as they stutter they way down freedom street.

On a more serious note Hairy, i can remember seeing the film when i was a young lad.

American submarine and love affair, lots of 'Waltzing Matilda'. Gave me the shits i tell you, but then the Yanks put the shit up everyone with their nuclear war bullshit.

Scary scary in the 60's.

Now that Erdogan has completed his take over of Turkey, after engineering a coup designed to fail and stealing a referendum. He will start a war before the North Koreans. A man who is capable of such a masquerade can only be bent on war. With the power he now has he will be able to go to war without his Parliament's consent.
