He will put folk out of work with that.......

If 2 people are happy with a contract, both agree to the money and terms...... how can an outsider change those terms?
How will this help foreign investment?
Can you imagine the price increase everywhere to help fund this wage rise?

The media need the have clarity on this.....

No, actually i cant imagine the price increases everywhere to fund this wage rise. I do remember the claims that there would be mass redundancies and price hikes when the national minimum wage was brought in.. didne happen. I also remember the very same claims being made each and every time the NMW was increased. Still didne happen. The recent introduction of the national living wage by the Tories was met by much gnashing of Teeth and howls of employment armageddon by employers throughout the land. Still waiting for that to happen but no sign so far.

But hey it's a much better idea to keep people on low wages and have tbe taxpayer (me and you) subsidise their wages through tax credits.

So they lose employees then......as they can't afford the wage hike?

Folk lose jobs regardless of them agreeing to a contract because you as a third party (not even a third party, heehaw to do with you) believe they should get paid more.....

Didn't you read my previous post? Have there been mass redundancies after any wage legislation? No there hasn't. So what makes you think there would be after this one ?

Is it maybe because that's what the media peddle? Are you happy to continue to subsidise low income workers because if you pay tax in this country that's what ypu do and it's not just small businesses we are talking here. Mega international companies are fucking at it as well. So you and me are subsidising McDonalds, BurgerKing, Amazon etc etc etc becausw they won't pay their workers a living wage. Ffs are you serious?

Why would any cunt be against workers getting better paid? Only in fucking Britain would this happen. We work the most hours for the least pay and pay the most tax. And here you are a regular working stiff (i presume) sticking up for the system. Fucking lunacy 😂

I stick up for it, as I understand it......

Typically you bring out the big guns like McDonald's etc..... to try and prove a point will ignoring my small business point.

Basically, you want the government to have more money and no real advantage to working parents......

The only folk you will help is unskilled singles.......

What do you believe should be the minium skilled workers pay?..... or any other field?

What about apprenticeship...... what would the minium wage be?

What small business point you made, that they couldn't afford to pay £10ph and this would lead to mass redundancies and business collapse?

I think i covered that. Who is it that makes these claims? The same folk that have been making these claims before the introduction of any wage legislation that's who. Why do the make these ckaims when the evidence shows nothing of the kind? Because they don't want to pay their workers more money i should think.

And if it really is small businesses you worry for where are you posts about the new business rates reforms where some small businesses have seen their rates rise by up to 300%

I don't get your point about bringing out the big guns, does that make what i said any less true. You also seem to think tbere are no unskilled working parents, how does that work?

A living wage doesn't just help "unskilled singles" it helps every working person and is also good for the economy. The more disposable income people have the more the spend. The more they apend the more the economy grows.

It's economics 101 mate.

A £10 minimum wage will also push up other workers wages as has happened with previous wage legislation. It will also do away with the nead for working tax credits and save the state (you and me) a fortune

Nope i cant actually see any downside to this and I'm surprised an working man or women could. Unless they have an irrational hatred for Jeremy Corbyn and or the labour party of course.

Me, i am apathetic to both.

The point I made to you was simple enough......

You raise the minimum wage....... the government earns more on income tax..... Yes?
You raise the minimum wage....... the government pays less tax credits...... Yes?

Funny you mention the Greeks. Guess what country comes second to them when it comes to the decline in the value of wages over the last decade?

Go on guess.

I bet you can't.

Of course it doesn't suit everyone. It doesn't suit the people who pay shit wages. They are quite happy with the status quo.Why wouldn't they be, less pay more profit.

Here's an article from last year the day before the NMW was raised. Note what the CBI claim at the end of it. Also note that at that time there was an estimated 3.2 million workers on minimum wage. That figure will be lot bigger now. Note also that it's mostly women and older workers that are affected by the rise in the NMW.
