EBTs found no legal by supreme court?

alex rae  youd be better aff he never signed he wis pish lol

That's a great answer...a laughing smiley

Only today you can see the huge difference between Rangers and Celtic fans. Criticising Rangers supporters for their behaviour but i have never seen Enders or Charlie being critical of the Celtic support who have been repeatedly fine by UEFA.

Wanting Rangers stripped of titles for using a tax avoidance scheme

Celtic Football Club asked for an Old Firm game to be postponed after the death of a young player that had left the club 8 years before. He left with the boos of the Celtic support ringing in his ears and many demanding that he hand back his wages he had 'stolen' when out injured. Celtic were on a wretched run and had only won 1 game in the previous month and star man McGeady was out injured. Where was the integrity then? You also have to remember when Rangers were being forced to play 4 games in a week including Cup finals and league deciders Celtic club Legend Tommy Burns died. Did they ask for games to be postponed then? Not a chance!!

Stick your Sporting Integrity right up yer collective arses. You wouldn't  know integrity if it walked right up and kicked you firmly in the testicles

did rangers have an unfair advantage ?

Explain the unfair advantage?

Celtic used EBTs.

Rangers offered to settle their Tax Case for a far higher percentage than Chelsea and Arsenal (they both owed hundreds of millions) HMRC refused the Scottish Club but accepted the English clubs offer. You would think the SNP led Scottish Government would have been all over this. A Scottish company blatantly being treated unfairly in comparison with English Companies for excatly the same offence.

Rangers , imo, have been used by the HMRC as a test  case. They don't upset too many in English football but they have a high profile club who will have very little (none) political support

Former Liverpool and England striker Stan Collymore called on authorities to strip the club of the titles it won over the period in question. Writing on Twitter, he said: “Rangers should have every title expunged from the records. Disgraceful financial cheating on an industrial scale.”He also said that the difference between the “abuse” of EBT schemes by Rangers and English clubs was “zero,” adding: “Rangers just thought they were big enough to say ‘F you’ to HMRC.”Today’s judgement, however, is likely to have far reaching consequences throughout the British game. A number of clubs in England also operated EBT schemes, and while some have already settled with HMRC, otherc could not be hit with demands. HMRC has “encouraged” companies which used similar schemes to settle tax bills in light of the ruling. A settlement opportunity in light of the 2010 legislation ran out in July 2015 and other firms could now be liable for major sums.

Fuck you HMRC ? That's fucking choice coming from that cunt. Tbh....I'd rather be accused of tax 'avoidance' than being a cowardly cunt like Collymore whose only claim to fame is being able to assault a woman. What a fucking dog............

I really wish people would stop saying it was cheating when they were used they were perfectly legal. That it is pointed out in the judgement the use of was not a sham. Nor was it fraud as I keep hearing if it was fraud it would have been a.criminal case

EBT stands for Employee Benefit Trust and, in this case, it refers to a scheme that was widely used by large companies in a bid to avoid tax liabilities. Companies would set up trusts and make cash payments from these trusts in the form of tax-free loans to employees or beneficiaries - thus avoiding the need to pay tax. In many cases the loans were never repaid. Legislation has since been passed outlawing the use of the scheme for tax avoidance purposes.

Did other clubs use the scheme?

Celtic are the only other Scottish club to have used the EBT scheme. They paid the Brazilian midfielder Juninho from a trust in 2005 but have since settled with HMRC. A number of clubs in England also operated the scheme and some have already settled with HMRC.

Funnily enough HMRC refused to accept a settlement with Rangers.

How will this affect Rangers football club today?

The outcome is expected to have no material or financial impact on Rangers as the club is now owned by a different company.

But it was not illegal. FFS when are people going to accept that Tax Avoidance is Legal and Tax Evasion is illegal

What do you mean 'Come forward and settle'? Rangers did that and  offered to pay back £10 million to save the trouble of a court case. HMRC refused the offer. They also refused to take 10-15p in the £ during Rangers administration. Dundee, Livingston and Dunfermline Athletic ( they paid 0(zero)pence) all were allowed to settle for far less percentage wise

During the administration this case was unfounded and therefore Rangers actually owed Ticketus the most and they should have been allowed to accept the offer but for some reason that i have yet to have explained to me HMRCs bill was just accepted as actual debt and there fore they were allowed to have final say on the offer put forward.

using EBTS , not 1 or 10 , for more , attracting better players they couldnt pay for by using illegal EBTS and side letters, attracting better players with the deal of paying less tax on their wage when every other club played by the book.
