Both demos are now out for the 2012 versions of FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer, so the debates are raging around already! I generally don't both with the demos, as I can try both games before buying anyway, but I had a shot of the PES one at my mate's house and I wasn't overly impressed.

What's your preference then? I was PES until FIFA 10 when it was far better, and have been FIFA since then. Don't think I'll be changing back any time soon if I'm honest.

PES has been poor for a while and this year is no better. Haven't played Fifa 12 yet but I'll give the demo a go

PES is rank rotten. Shite in every conceivable way. Fifa knocks spots of it.

I have always been a FIFA man.

I have owned two copies of pes and I do appreciate the arcade feel, but FIFA has always been better, IMO.

FIFA is out on my birthday, so that's the present I am looking for from the mrs.

I was a pro evo man but thing recent ones have been poor. I don't own any consoles these days though the wee man has x box 360 and wants FIFA 12.

I assume you whip him at FIFA on the xbox? Or is he better than you?

The lack of real names has always put me off pes. Griggs ?!?!?

I destroy him at pro evo but things are usually a bit closer at FIFA

His x box is broken just now though.

Fifa demo is good, but the tackling will take some getting used to!

PES 06 was the game, the rest were pretty poor

Even with the players names, Stillian Pelekov & Neil Lemon

PES 4 was the peak for me. Downhill ever since with 11 being laughably poor.

I was a Pro Evo man all the way back to the ISS days. It peaked around Pro Evo 6 and then started to lose focus. I finally picked up FIFA 09 and started playing it and it has been my game of choice ever since.
I've downloaded the FIFA 12 demo, but not had a chance to play it yet. I'm off today, so might squeeze in a cheeky wee half hour.

The verdict from people I know is that PES is still the arcade-like game it has been for a while now, whereas FIFA is by far the better simulator - and it would seem holds the crown for best game once more. It'll be FIFA 12 all the way for me I think!

Fifa.

Its far superior than PES that was not always the case though! PES struggled to make the leap to the next gen consoles. Fifa thrived on it and have improved the game massively over the last few years.

Having played both demos for the 2012 installments i see nothing to change my mind, the only thing that pisses me off is the tackling in Fifa 12 as soon as you commit to a stand up challenge that is your player out the game if the tackle is not a success. People may say that's more realistic but........ its just down right annoying, like all recent Fifa games it will take a few weeks/months to master then it wont be a problem.

I'm excited about the release, will wait to see which supermarket is doing it cheapest and go there for midnight launch, quite sad but i love my Fifa!

Maybe in the future we could have a wee SFF league going online......................?
