Things aren't exactly going Dundee's way at the moment, despite a win over Raith at the weekend they're still closer to the foot of the table than the top.

Dundee FC have confirmed chief executive Harry MacLean has resigned from his position at the Tayside club.

MacLean, who resigned from the board in August, played an important role in helping the club exit administation.

An outspoken figure, he hit out at the decision to dock the Dens Park side 25 points last season and criticised the SFL for failing to lift the club's transfer embargo until May this year.

He will work one month's notice before leaving the club in December.

Chairman Stuart Murphy told the club's official website: "On behalf of Dundee FC I'd like to thank Harry for all his hard work during his time at Dens, in particular during the period when the Club was in administration, when he played a large part in saving the Club."

"We'd would like to wish Harry all the best for his future career. The Club will release a formal statement in the days ahead."

When all’s said and done it’s only a game.

This was on the cards, he said he wouldn't be there long term. At least they have come though all this recent aggro. Plenty of other Scottish clubs will be going through the wringer soon unfortunately.

It is indeed sad to see a once proud club go through the wringer, not just once either. Perhaps if the SPL went to a 16 or 18 league set up then teams such as Dundee might have a better chance, although to be fair I think Dundee's problems go a little deeper than that, definite long term mismanagement.

The league argument could go on for a long time. Doncaster says the current 12 can't go on, none of the fans want 10, so it looks like it has to be 14, 16 or 18. But this is Scottish football, anything can happen.

Dundee,s miss-management, goes right back to 1975 when they let a certain Jim Mclean cross the road to Tannadice, although there has been the odd glimmer of hope
it has been downhill ever since. After Ian Gellatly we saw a precession of some twats, here are just a few of them, Ron Dixon (an ice hockey man), Angus Crook sorry Cook and a gradual process which put us up against the wall.
As for the future, we are no longer a Premier League club and although the gates average 4500 i dont really know what the future holds

It was 1971 McLean crossed the road.
