The former Livingston player was released by the Diamonds last Wednesday night in the wake of the club’s 7-2 derby-day hammering from Albion Rovers.
Malone started seven games for Airdrie after being released by the Lions in the summer.
But the 21-year-old’s performances were rarely up to scratch and that prompted action from the Diamonds manager, who blasted his attitude and work-rate.
Malone’s contract was torn up after a severance package was agreed, with Boyle shedding no tears.
He told Advertiser Sport: “Chris was someone we really fancied. He looked good in pre-season and started the season great.
“But it gradually went downhill. He is away now and I’m glad to see that, to be really truthful.
“We don’t need his kind of attitude about the place. We need a good, strong attitude.
“On the field, his performances were not good enough and his fitness was lacking.
“He didn’t apply himself in the right way and didn’t work hard enough; we weren’t having that.
