A really good website for game ratings is http://www.gamerankings.com/ - it gives an average percentage rating for games based on all the major reviews, and you can also link through to these reviews as well, and look at games by which console/format they are on too.
What sort of games are you after? A lot depends on taste - I loved Top Spin and FIFA, but I've never been into driving games. Are First Person Shooters an option? If so, you have Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 out recently. Maybe pop down to your local Blockbuster and give the games a try first!

If it's more for Jock Jnr, get Guitar Hero. Try to get the full band version. That will give you drums, 2 guitars and a mic. It makes for a great family night in. (And a great drunken night in with pals once the kids are away to bed!!)

I hear the new batman game is good and the latest assasins creed will no doubt be decent if thats your thing.
Youtube is a good source as well for seeing what the games look/play like.
An alternative to blockbuster for renting games is lovefilm, no return dates etc.

I was reading through this thread and thought about your site. Then I seen your post. What a coincidence.

Some 18s should be ok. For example, Grand Theft Auto deserves its 18 certificate, but I would argue that the Modern Warfare games are more deserving of a 15.
I dont have an XBOX, but I hear that it has a good selection of retro games to choose from on the online store. They are cheap as well, so you could get a few for the price of a normal game.
