See that there's only one game on a Saturday.
When all’s said and done it’s only a game.

Eh......no! The overwhelming majority of Scots fans come from the west of Scotland. It is a myth that it's all Embra punters and sheep shaggers who follow Scotland. Midweek games are crap for everyone including Glaswegians, believe it or not Sheepy, some of us work too.
I'm undecided about the Friday games. Sounds great on paper but Glasgow city centre pre and post match will be a nightmare. It's bad enough the amount of abuse people get in Glasgow for supporting the country of their birth from folk more akin to wearing Ireland/England tops, but when they've just spent their Friday afternoon/evening getting pissed I can see there being trouble.

Im not the biggest fan of Scotland but if levein can get Scotland even to the playoffs it will be a herculean effort on his and the players part.

Last game against the best team in the group AGAIN. We do that every time!

"Oh but we'll hopefully have qualified by then..."

Yeah, that's worked SO well in the past.

Just messing, although statistically there should be a higher percentage of old firm fans going to the games, but that is probably for another thread............oh I can just picture now the potential controversy of it all, will I bother?

The fixtures look ok but I'm not happy with only one Saturday game. As we are starting with 2 home games I'd be looking to get 6 points from those.

We don't have much say in that though being 4th seeds. At least it is a home game.

Sheepy when the games are on a Saturday they sell out. The only ones that don't are friendlies, hardly unusual is it? At a time when club attendances are falling it's hardly surprising that International attendances will dip too

If we keep making 'progress' the way Levein talks, by the time the Croatia game comes along we'll annihilate them :P

The majority of Scotland fans are Old Firm fans...............again hardly surprising since they make up about 70% of SPL fans. Rangers have a higher share than Celtic though, bit of useless info for ye :-)
Didnae mean to go on Sheepy, does my nut when east coasters harp on about being more loyal Scotland fans.

I don't like internationals on a Friday. Saturday games were perfect because you could often get 2 or 3 games at different times, so you could catch them all. Now we have them all at the same time on a Friday. Hardly convenient for the fan who likes to watch football on the telly. that includes those that goes to the games, but also want to watch before and after the game.

Ruins the rest of the weekend too. You're lucky if there's one game to watch on Saturdays now and Sundays are a write off.

I had it in my head that we played Germany in a final home match at some point, but apparently not. That was Euro 2004 and it was the penultimate game we played them. The full list back to the last time we qualified and how we did is below.

Euro 2012: Away to Spain (out after defeat)
World Cup 2010: Away to Holland (out after defeat)
Euro 2008: Home to Italy (out after defeat)
World Cup 2006: Away to Slovenia (out before the game)
Euro 2004: Home to Lithuania (we made the playoffs)
World Cup 2002: Home to Latvia (out before the game)
Euro 2000: Home to Lithuania (we made the playoffs)
World Cup 98: Home to Latvia (beat them and qualified as best runner up)

So the answer appears to be play your last game at home to Lithuania and you'll make the playoffs, play a diddy and you'll be out before you play then, or play the big team and let them knock you out. Latvia might be hit or miss.

It was the big clubs in Europe who voted to change international fixtures to Fridays and Tuesday's so we are lucky to have any international games at all on a Saturday.

Croatia away in June 2013 won't be good as I'd imagine football season will be long finished before then.

Have the FA's involved not got an option to change these fixtures from the Friday night to the Saturday . Surely if both nations agreed there wouldn't be a problem . I know the clubs would prefer the Friday night but the national FA's will have precedence if they insist .
