What players have left United? I can think of Pernis, Kenneth and Dixon.

Kenneth still hasnt sorted out a club yet. There is plenty of time to do so, but he is missing out on pre season training time

Dundee United winger Gary Mackay-Steven may not now require surgery on a knee injury.
It was feared he would miss up to six weeks after withdrawing from the Scotland under-21 squad last midweek. He also sat out United's 3-0 derby win on Sunday.
However, after consulting a surgeon it was decided that Mackay-Steven is fit to return to training this week.

That is great news for them. He is possibly most exciting player to watch in SPL.

It's great news for the club that they are staying. They are probably the two best young talents in our league.

Well happy that we've managed to keep them both till at least January. If they had gone, it was going to be a long hard season as, even though Houston would have been able to bring in a few other players with the cash, he'd have struggled to find similarly talented players.

Despite the good news, I was at the St Johnstone game today and it was glaringly obvious how much we are going to miss Mackay Steven for the next couple of months. We simply had no creative spark or an out-ball to play to. I don't see us picking up many wins until he is back. We resorted to the long ball to Daly too much today and it just didn't work.

I would have thought it would have been higher as they seem to be playing decent football and are doing well.

How does this compare with previous seasons ? Higher / Lower ?

Thought it would have been a higher figure given all the hype earlier in the season

Houston paying troubled visitors his full respect

Dundee United manager Peter Houston believes Hearts' wrangle over wages won't affect how Saturday's opponents perform on the park.

Members of the SPL board have again been forced to address the late payment of player wages at Tynecastle when they met this week but the United boss maintains off-the-field issues will not affect John McGlynn's men when the two teams clash at Tannadice.
''To be fair to the Hearts players, any time that's ever happened their attitude has been spot on,'' he said. ''They've got boys like Andy Webster who are good in the dressing room and they'll put it to the back of their minds and they'll play as hard as they can. It won't make any difference to them.''
Inconsistency has been the big problem for both sides early on in this SPL season and Houston puts that down to the transition that has gone on at both clubs in recent times.

That is a good initiative. More clubs should follow suit.

They are doing well to secure their youngsters on longer contracts until the inevitable happens and they move south. At least this means they should receive a good transfer fee.
