Some may not read too much into the rankings, but it's still a move in the right direction for the national team.

Scotland don't deserve to be any higher IMO until we at least make the play offs for another tournament. Avril is gonna have to show some belief in the squad and actually ATTACK teams from the start of the qualifiers

It could and should have happened last time round JHR. Levein's way too defensive outlook stopped us gaining an extra four or five points in our group. We would have finished second behind Spain.
We don't have a great team but if the squad are used to their full potential then we can at the very least make the play offs

Probably blind optimism mate, I'm a Scotland fan. I think another manager would take us to a finals. Confidence is everything in qualifiers and I think our first two games last time round killed us before we got going. We need a positive start to get the heads up and inject a bit of belief.

Sad times when countries like Iran, Panama, Estonia, Mali are supposedly better than the Scots!

I would strongly fancy us against any of those teams however wether i would bet us or not is a different story, really don't like betting on friendlies.
I had £80 on us against Lithuania last year at Hampden, we were 4/6 if i remember correctly. Although i sometimes let my heart rule my head when it comes to gambling
