Inverness or Dunfermline v Celtic (Sky), Rangers v Dundee United (BBC) and Hearts v St Johnstone (Sky) all being shown live.

I had asked on the podcast whether they would continue with the two live games, but I forgot that there were three games on during the 4th round.

If I was to choose three live games from the round, it would be those three.

I'm glad they are showing the old firm for a change.

In all fairness, there is a reason they select those games - simply because it will get far more viewers. It would be nice to see different sides, but the TV companies have their own interests to look after, and the interests of the viewers, and the cold hard truth is that more viewers want to see Rangers and Celtic than other Scottish teams.

It's the same old story. Sky and ESPN show the old firm almost every week. Maybe they should show some imagination for once and then some of the other clubs could get some coverage.

But the point remains, why would they? Their interests are in getting as many viewers as possible. Surely that naturally lies with the bigger sides?

Sky don't give a fuck about football, let's be honest. All the tv companies do is make the rich richer.

Spot on. But that always means they'll do whatever it takes to get the biggest audience possible. That, inevitably, means showing Celtic or Rangers or ideally both. It's why they're always on the TV and it's why we're stuck with playing each other four times a season in the SPL. It's not even anything to do with Scottish audiences - they know they'll get a bigger audience outside Scotland if one or both of them are involved than if neither of them are.

I actually think with Sky being involved in football it makes our game worse.

Before then teams could compete with each other on more realistic terms.

Tonight we'll finally lose an SPL team from the draw, but we'll still have 11 of the 12. And there's a good chance it will be the top 11.
