What did you get tickets for? I never applied for anything but might try and go to some of the football if there are tickets left for games at Hampden.

well done jock.......i like certain events at the olympics (swimming/cycling/rowing and most T&F)......the football is a joke for me....why dont they choose amateur or non-league players and try and keep the spirit of the games intact....absolute farce that players earning £10000+ per week are even considered for participation

God only knows why they are playing the football at Hampden, wouldn't Manchester have been a better idea? Somewhere that folks are actually interested in olympic football and easier to travel too from other parts of the UK and beyond

I like the Olympics and definitely want to go sometime in my life but wouldn't even think about going this year.

Heard them talking on the radio the other day about how the money spent of the Olympics was justified because it would re-develop the whole area of London for the benefit of business. Shame it's us up here that's paying for it and not business or Londoners.
There's only one team in Dundee, always was, always will be.

Forza there are actually loads of Scottish companies working on the Olympic Games and the money to fund the competition is all coming from scratchcards........honest

Plus we'll get to see something like Tonga vs Djibouti womens football at Hampden so it's all worth it.

Have no intention of travelling to any events. Television coverage will be wall to wall, that will suffice for me.

Not convinced that scratch cards are meeting 100% of the costs ? Are we tax payers not funding the training programmes for most competitors ?

Agree with John about the football, also question the tennis and is golf included ?

I'm thinking it should have all been in London with it being the London Olympics.

They knew that Scots and Northerns were funding their Olympics and feared a backlash so gave us some football games. Afterall we're all just football hooligans north of river Trent, a few games will more than make up for the millions their taking from us.

I was joking JHR. Originally we were told that private funding and lottery money would foot most of the bill. I think that was before the inevitable budget hikes which have seen costs spiral out of control. Future legacy? Aye, a huge legacy of debt to add to the state we're already in.

Of course it should Jay. I don't know if it was just a logistical nightmare or if they just wanted to appease the masses who were against this from the offset

I'm another who deaon't think football or tennis (or golf when it comes in) should be in the Olympics........and whilst I do have political thoughts on the whole thing I do think it will be amazing to attend an event and also just to be in London when it is on as the city will be buzzing B-)

i'm all for the olympics.....but not in the current format/climate where people at the very top of their game earning millions compete against those that still believe in the ethos of the competition...maybe an just old fashioned...maybe am just old

and as for using cities outwith london...one reason only (think bundy said it)...appeasement.

and your right jock...within london itself during the games will be an experience...enjoy it mate

Nice to see the cost of this farce has risen from £2.7Bn to over £12Bn and what's even more hilarious is that by the time security is paid for it's going to be well over £20Bn..........ten times the original outlay. A big pile of folk are fillin their pockets here and gettin away with it, and I'd bet my baws that wee corrupt cunt Coe is at the heart of it
