Agreed he was keeping his options open, and I think not many people will be surprised that he is going. However I think many would not be surprised if this was the first of a few out the door, whether they are first team regulars or fringe players, permanent deals or loans there will surely be more out the door than in

Could be a few fringe players going on loan. 1st team ? Not unless big bucks are offered, everyone has a price

dont understand the reluctance to wait until later in the week to inform us where he's off to though.......anyone have guesses?
With him being at Everton i was thinking of clubs down that neck of the woods and to be honest the only 2 I thought of wher he MAY still do job were Blackpool and Preston..with Preston just shading it (if my reasoning is right...lol)

It was clear near the end that he was lacking a yard of pace, but he knew exactly what to do to avoid that being exploited. Boughy would go a wander, but Weir would always remain in his position to cover, which allowed Boughy to be a little eccentric and still ensure that Rangers werent hit by the counter attack.
I can only imagine what an influence he has been at the young players (not just defenders) at the club. Danny Wilson especially will have benefited from playing alongside him, with the 21/22 years between them when Wilson first debuted, which still amazes me
Weir, a modern Rangers legend.

I think you are right. They never moved up because I assume he/they felt it was always a short term deal.

Oh dear sheep. And you can't even claim you were drunk. Not your brightest post.
Davie Weir was the perfect example of what a club captain should be. His reasons for leaving the club are honest and honourable and I'm sure every Rangers fan wishes him the best in whatever he chooses to do. A great role model for everyone associated with the club my only regret is we didn't sign him 10 years earlier.
Let's hope that in 7 years time when Ally decides to move on after achieving 10 in a row Weir is ready and able to take over as manager.
