What bands/singers second albums can you think of that were better than their debut?
One I can think of just now is Blur's Modern Life Is Rubbish which is better than Leisure.
I will need to think about others.

Give em enough rope was better than The Clash .Especially side one . Safe European home is one of The Clash's best songs . Julie's been working for the drug squad is another cracker . This album was more refined than the first .Is that a good thing though . Probably not , it hasn't got quite as much raw energy as the first .
It was followed up by London Calling . Are we going to have a 3rd album better than everything ? Because London Calling would win it hands down .
This is the modern world was The Jams 2nd album and was a bit of a let down after their great debut In The City . However once again it was followed up with a classic .All Mod Cons . Another 3rd album that was brilliant.
