In regards to administration and money owed to HMRC etc, I thought this BBC blog Q&A following Portsmouth entering admin in 2010 is quite informative:

The game is still being played. This is in no way the end. It may well be the beginning of the end, but we don't know that at this moment

Rangers going into administration isnt the end of the world. its a chance of a fresh start. I didnt see anyone questioning where all the money was coming from when you were spending millions and winning every trophy going. surely it was fun while it lasted. ive got a feeling this was all in whytes plan as he knew what he was getting when he took over ( the tax bill was the biggest sticking point with the takeover). a couple of years rebuilding is surely worth it for all the past glory.

I know the short term implications of this.

But what about long term, and what does this mean in regards to the tax case?

long term implication is that Rangers could cease to exist, see previous forum topic ;)

When would rangers need to come out of administration to be eligible for europe next season?

If Rangers qualify for Europe next season, will they be allowed to play in European competition?

That depends. If they come out of administration as the same entity, their license to compete in Uefa competitions would be issued by the Scottish Football Association, provided they had exited administration by the end of March.

Failure to exit administration by then would mean they would not have a license and wouldn't be able to compete in Europe next season.

If they come out of administration as a different entity, their license would lapse and they would have to apply for a new one. It would then be up to the SFA and Uefa to decide if a new license can be granted.

I wonder whether players will end up being released. I'm pretty sure in all other cases of teams going in to administration it has happened.

The likely hood is that players will have to sold by the bucket load, the other assets have already been sold off such as catering etc leaving only players and Ibrox as the only valuable assets. Murray Park, as much as its a nice training complex, is built on land which apparently has no permission to build anything on such as houses or supermarkets rendering it a low value asset.

That happens to me too. In chrome, you can hit right click and choose paste as plain text, or you can highlight the text and select size 14 after you paste it. For some reason it looks ok at first, but one of those two will ensure it remains the correct size

What is this I hear about Whyte taking this action now to put himself high on the list of preferred creditors? Is he trying to look after his own needs and I indeed benefit from Rangers' asset stripping?

Just asking a question incidentally, I can't keep up with it all myself...

There is certainly a reason for it and it would not surprise me if that one is close to the truth.

Genious. It's going to happen anyway so get it done and over with so that the club can start restructuring it's finances. The HMRC will not go away as long as the club does not go into administration so if it has to be done it should be done now.

A lot of "if's" still in the air concerning the CVA but the threat of the HMRC on our backs for the next few years will be taken away and allowing for investments into the club by next season. Rangers have been Scottish Champions for the last 3 seasons which is about average as far as winning streaks go so by probability only, Celtic should be Champions this season anyway. Now that we've lost our 15-point advantage and second place in the league is secure, this is the perfect time for a 10-point deficit.

It's almost sad how much the press are trying to make this season out to be one of the hardest in recent years.

Neil Lennon: If you believe league is over you won’t be in my team

Scott Brown’s prepared for a battle

Celtic ace Victor Wanyama: Bhoys proved we can tough it out for title with win over Inverness CT

Fact of the matter is that Rangers have opted for 2nd place this season due to the financial situation it finds themselves in and if Celtic don't win the SPL this season, they never will.

Craig Whyte isn't at the top of the list of preferred creditors , he is the list . Rangers assets go to him . HMRC get very little . Rangers end up debt free and HMRC free . Jobs a goodun . ;)

Forgive me if I'm well off the mark, but many people seem to think that this will be far from an easy case of restructuring Rangers financially and everything going back to being hunky dory.

Isn't there a serious risk that Rangers could either disappear completely or be forced to downsize more longer term?
