Sounds like he is probably going to play again. Will be interesting to see how the fans would take to him, but it probably doesn't make financial sense (even for a team like Man City) to have him on the sidelines, now that he has returned and will no doubt be picking up his obscene wage again!

this sends out a terrible message. How can he get away with refusing to come on (refusing to warm up is the same thing to me)? How can he get away with simply going awol and not returning to the club for months?
Also, nobody knows how fit or unfit he will be when he gets back

I think it's cause they have a shortage of striking options.
They'd be better off though not letting him back in the squad and selling him off in the summer.
