showing them from 11yr olds in a specially designed learning area and it's reckoned by the IAD and other driving bodies that this is the way to reduce joy riding and fatal road accidents.
these bodies want it introduced into the school syllabus, it happens in scandanavia.
seems a good idea
think hamilton race course offer the course

I seen a learner car that was advertising lessons for 15 year olds. I just assumed it was a ploy to gain an advantage on other instructors

Off topic a bit, but I seen a guy slowly go over the top of a roundabout and go off the road. He then reversed back onto the roundabout causing everythig to come to a stand still. I turned around and went back thinking he must have had a heart attack or similar and he just drove off. He was maybe steaming.

I've said similar a few times, but not just for over 60s. With the photo IDs, you have to get a new one every ten years now. You should have to pass a renewal test before you can do that.
On top of that, I'd stage the tests to get you driving in the first place. They do it with bikes, they should do it with cars as well. So until you get the basics you have to drive around in a car park. Once you get the basics, you get out on the road with your red L plates as you do now. Once you pass that, I'd make Pass Plus mandatory and you have to have green L plates until you've passed that.
It makes no sense that you can get out on the road without learning the basic controls. It also makes no sense that you can't drive on a motorway or really drive at night until after you pass your test, at which point you go out on your own.

Sensible opinions, Psycho. I didn't realise they were issuing photo id's now for UK driving liscence. They have the same here in Brazil but it's only valid for 6-years at time and then you have to renew it meaning a medical, eye test and road safety awareness exam (multiple choice on a PC program) before they issue the new one.
