Hartson no' that bad ??? OOOPFFT...Perhaps you dont like walker & provan for the same reason i do like them....! Pretty straight in the main.

Burley is just another trash talker who likes the sound of his ain voice and values his own opinion....like his media prozzy pal ;)

aye, took us to last 16 of champs league, twice, something oniell never done!

That one annoys me. O'Neill did EXACTLY what Strachan did in the Champions League in his first attempt. The only difference was that the bottom club took less points off the other two in O'Neill's year than they did in Strachan's year. As such, O'Neill was unlucky not to make the last 16 while Strachan did it twice.

When you factor in that Strachan never won a two legged tie in Europe* while O'Neill took us to a European final doing just that, I know which one of the two I'd rather have seen in the last 16.

I'm not trying to take away from Strachan's achievements, but it really gets on my nerves when people use the O'Neill comparison to show how he was somehow "better".

* Spartak Moscow was officially a draw. The penalty shoot-out comes after a tie to decide who goes through. That's not technically winning the tie.

how is it not technically winning the tie? we go through so technically we do win the tie.

yes oniell had 9 points in CL when we played juve, rosenborg, porto and strachan went through with less, but thats really nit picking man.

martin oniell had about 20 x what strachan had to spend aswell.

@Psychoheart, no matter how you dress it up Strachan got to the last 16 twice with a much poorer team both financially and in quality than Martin O'Neil had. Considering the restraints Strachan was under I think he done a better job than O'Neil

I looked it up once. UEFA consider the tie a draw, neither team having won it. The penalty shoot out replaced the coin toss to determine who progressed to the next round as it was deemed a fairer way to do it. I found it rather odd too!

I take the point about the weaker team though. It just annoys me more that it's talking down O'Neill. I wouldn't take anything away from Strachan - his biggest achievements with Celtic came in Europe as far as I'm concerned.

I would have thought being the first manager since Stein to win three titles in a row was a pretty decent achievement.

Too many celtic fans just didnt like strachan.....never did never would. Not a selik man or irish....or NI catholic ye see ;)

Nae doubt the tims here will reply in defence of that and spout shite aboot why he wisnae that good and attempt to justify it.

His record speaks for itself and his hooped doubters just confirm my point when they get started on it.

I have never heard any Celtic fan ever suggest that. The media suggested it, Rangers fans suggested it, but never one of us.

I havent heard the religious side, or the irish side mentioned by a Celtic fan, but I have heard the line about him not being Celtic minded, whatever that means

I've never even heard that much from a Celtic fan - except in reference to the media suggesting it.

To be fair, I don't know every Celtic fan!
