I don't think he's quite peaked yet, still, not amongst the best defenders in Britain... but it's worth noting he is very technically gifted (for a centre back). I can't think of any centre backs off the top of my head who can take a better free kick or corner than him (and no, i don't count those CB's who can just welly it). maybe that's what broony meant? he is pretty versatile aswell

not quick enough tbh to be a properly good LB/LM, but it's nice having cover in those departments squad-wise. ideal as a CB who can play out of the defence, which the national squad with our strong midfield really could do with, but his current form alone is enough to get him called up

I think he has been called up to squad to play left back though I could be wrong.

:wtf: :wtf: he has improved at left back but for me he's still not a left back unless needed as back up........does Scotland not have a better left back?

I'd say Wallace is better choice, personally. Dunno if he's even in the squad though?

I've just looked on the squad thread and Wallace isn't named......although Phil Bardsley isn't a natural left back i am sure he has been playing there recently for Sunderland.

Levein has played Bardsley at left back too which I think is a waste of time.

I brought this point up before. Bardsley has been playing LB at club level for some time. What puzzles me though, is that Avril doesn't play him at RB and Wallace at LB. Much better balance and attacking options

It maybe wouldn't be as bad if he didn't continue also to play a right footed player at left mid too.

Charlie has surprised me this season,he has done admirably at CB but while having good skills and composure lacks the basic pace needed for the modern game given he doesnt appear to read the game brilliantly, but with a pacy partner who knows and must remember dont leave the wain in the motor daaaa.

What the hell has that got to do with anything ?

Most Cb's are on the other end of the crosses given their heading ability :)

True, but do we really need another "traditional" centre back ???

Presently, not one that scores the kind of goals he does. Come to think about it Scotland don't have a centre forward that scores the kind of goals he does.
